किसी चालक की लंबाई में परिवर्तन का उसके प्रतिरोध और प्रतिरोधकता पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ता है?अर्थात् लम्बाई बढ़ने से चालक का प्रतिरोध बढ़ता है और लम्बाई घटने से चालक का प्रतिरोध घटता है। (iv) चालक के अनुप्रस्थ काट के क्षेत्रफल पर:किसी चालक का प्रतिरोध उसके अनुप्रस्थ काट के क्षेत्रफल का व्युत्क्रमानुपाती होता है। अर्थात् मोटाई बढ़ने पर चालक का प्रतिरोध घटता है।
यदि किसी चालक की लम्बाई तथा मोटाई को आधा कर दिया जाए तो नया प्रतिरोध क्या होगा?Solution : लम्बाई दोगुनी करने पर , अनुप्रस्थ - काट का क्षेत्रफल आधा रह जायेगा । अंत : नया प्रतिरोध प्रारम्भिक प्रतिरोध का चार गुना हो जायेगा ।
